Nintendo does make "family games", but they also make stand-alone titles which are fun. Third parties are also there making titles.
Any system will have bad games. I just think the public opinion which people pick up and use, points out the bad ones in order to make the Wii seem bad.
The Wii's potential for homebrew is also not talked about. Homebrew, and emulation of old systems like NES, SNES, Saturn, Genesis, PS1, etc.
If a homebrew person wanted, they could port Jet Grind Radio to the Wii, and integrate Wii controls. But that'll never happen ^^;
Oh, yeah. Every console certainly has bad games! What incenses me me about the Wii is the ridiculous amount of bad games in comparison to the amount of good games. No other system currently has such a terrible ratio. While the Wii has a number of classics, the shovelware simply overpowers it. Wii has opened its crap floodgates and seems to have no intent on closing it -- indeed, they come off as proud. That, combined with the number of non-games (such as Wii Music and Wii Fit) is what brings it down to such abysmal lows in my eyes -- especially when you consider what an amazing system the Gamecube was.
Also, potential should not factor into whether a system is good or not. Many, many things never even come close to living up to their potential -- take the Virtual Boy for example! If they live up to their potential however, that would be awesome!
