Nintendo does make "family games", but they also make stand-alone titles which are fun. Third parties are also there making titles.
Any system will have bad games. I just think the public opinion which people pick up and use, points out the bad ones in order to make the Wii seem bad.

The Wii's potential for homebrew is also not talked about. Homebrew, and emulation of old systems like NES, SNES, Saturn, Genesis, PS1, etc.
If a homebrew person wanted, they could port Jet Grind Radio to the Wii, and integrate Wii controls. But that'll never happen ^^;

Oh, yeah. Every console certainly has bad games! What incenses me me about the Wii is the ridiculous amount of bad games in comparison to the amount of good games. No other system currently has such a terrible ratio. While the Wii has a number of classics, the shovelware simply overpowers it. Wii has opened its crap floodgates and seems to have no intent on closing it -- indeed, they come off as proud. That, combined with the number of non-games (such as Wii Music and Wii Fit) is what brings it down to such abysmal lows in my eyes -- especially when you consider what an amazing system the Gamecube was.

Also, potential should not factor into whether a system is good or not. Many, many things never even come close to living up to their potential -- take the Virtual Boy for example! If they live up to their potential however, that would be awesome!

I do not think the GameCube did well in America - they didn't bring enough games over here. Super Smash Brothers Melee was to the Cube as Pokémon was to the Game boy.
But I do think the GameCube had potential =P I'm under the impression that it did better in Japan, and that there were a ton more games released there. One example that comes to mind is Doshin the Giant - they ended up releasing it in the UK, too, but not in the US.

As for the amount of crap games,
Nintendo is probably making money from it. Turns out they're a company, and they are greedy jerks as such, regardless of any fanboyism. Actually, I would say they don't even listen to fans.
And, I don't think a system's bad games should define it. If you don't enjoy a game, don't buy it. Or if you own it, get rid of it and keep checkin' out new games.

And speaking of potential, Dreamcast. I thought Saturn did, and it certainly didn't live long. There were also several systems that had limited release which were hidden in the shadows of giants like Sony, Sega, and Nintendo. Like 3DO? And unreleased ones like Indrema.

Virtual Boy was a rushed, poorly implemented idea sold on the precept of the buzzword of the time, "virtual reality". If they made one now, it would be much higher quality.

GAMECUBE. I own all the consoles made this generation and a PS2, N64, and SNES and I'll have to say that I've had more fun playin this friggin thing than any other system. On top of that, it has a controller that fits my hand perfectly, despite the weird button configuration. It has a couple of games on it that I've beaten at least five times, like Luigi's Mansion and Pikmin.

Best system ever? Saying the Neo-Geo would be cheating, so I'm going with the PC-Engine.

God I love you, PC-Engine. Home of Tengai Makyou, Dracula X, Puyo Puyo CD, Devil Crash, Parodius Da!, Splatterhouse, and many more.

My second choice would be the Saturn.
Now you all know my secret. Not only am I the English teacher, but I'm also a vampire.

GameCube and Xbox 360! GameCube was a very kid friendly, not too much of a gamer game. So when my friends came over it was the only system I could play with them xD It was funny watching them struggle with the second joystick on the Xbox, though :lol:
